Somatic Archaeology
Somatic Archaeology was developed by Dr. Ruby Gibson over 30 years ago, as a therapeutic protocol for helping native people heal, communities and the land recovery from historical trauma.
SA is both an evidence-based, bottom-up protocol, differing from top-down modalities like CBT or talk therapy, that works with a client's neurophysiology to restore memories, healing amnesia, and safely expressing trapped or frozen emotions that have been stored both in the soma and the brain.
SA is highly integrative, moving beyond modalities like Somatic Experiencing or somatic movement to reconcile traumatic experiences with the cognitive mind + brain, creating spiritual reconciliation, resolution and wholeness.
Rooted in neuroscience and traditional knowledge and wisdom, SA aims to empower those with complex trauma, survivors of abuse, or chronic illness to understand the root of their conditions, releasing the conditioning via titrated somatic and emotional release, transforming their emotional and epigenetic loads through interpretation and reconciliation.
This is 14 generational model of historical trauma recovery has been shared with Indigenous women across the world working in the fields of mental health, social work, holistic wellness and traditional modalities who support people and communities facing historical trauma and chronic challenges.
